What every house needs - a private racetrack!
IT'S not Monaco, the Nurburgring or even Oran Park - this racetrack is NSW's best-kept secret. The privately owned road in Kulnura, on the Central Coast, is a 5.1km Formula One-style track with 22 turns, described by one motorsport champion as the second-best track in the world. The track, which is said to have cost $10 million, was built by car enthusiast and former Coca-Cola Amatil boss Dean Wills after he lost his licence for speeding on the old Pacific Highway in 1996.

Mr Wills wanted to enjoy his growing fleet of exotic cars - which included the only McLaren racing car ever sold privately - without having to worry about oncoming traffic.Mr Wills would not reveal how much the family had ploughed into the road but a conservative estimate of about $60sq m for the bitumen alone puts the 40,000sq m of circuit at $2.4 million.Getting to race on the track is akin to joining the mafia - someone has to vouch for you."It's all friends of friends," he said. "We know the people who are inviting (other people) here and we trust their judgment."Those who have done a few laps include motorcycle champion Casey Stoner, the "Flying Scot" Sir Jackie Stewart and Formula One great Jack Brabham.Mr Wills said Wayne Gardner described the road as his second favourite circuit in the world behind Suzuka in Japan. 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™

2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™ Summary - Planet-f1.com/
2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™ Winners - Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso,

2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™  Results
Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 1st Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
In his penultimate drive before his wilderness years Lewis showed just how exciting the championship might have been if McLaren could have kept their car from breaking down all year. It might have been a three-way fight going to Interlagos had the MP4-27 not believed it was a TVR. Lewis was on it all the way from lights to flag and got the one bit of luck he needed with the intervention of an HRT on Lap 42.
2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™ Winners - Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso,

Sebastian Vettel, 2nd Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Narain has never forgiven Seb for calling him "stupid" earlier in the year and today it was payback time.
But seriously, Vettel shouldn't look at the lost win as seven points lost, more like 18 points gained. Because it could have been his Red Bull that slowed and stopped on lap 17 not Mark's. On his slowing down lap he radioed back, "we should be very happy" in the kind of heavy tone that was so deadbeat it made Winnie The Pooh's Eyore sound like some evangelist Christian missionary who'd swallowed a whole tube of Barocca.
2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™ Winners - Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso,
Fernando Alonso, Ferrari, 3rd Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Alonso was slower than Massa for only the second time this season. He was fortunate that Mark Webber failed to finish and that Jenson Button qualified where he did. As we head towards Brazil the long-range weather forecast for Sao Paulo for next Saturday and Sunday is thunderstorms on both days.

Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 4th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Massa's best race of the season and next week we'll be at the place where he's always a contender. Asking him to take a five place grid penalty next weekend might be a bit more tricky to explain to the local fans.

Jenson Button, McLaren, 5th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Jenson had a "fun" race. What was interesting was that he was keen to get it on team radio that: "I'm wasting a lot of time not being able to use all the KERS". That sounded less like a message to his engineers, who would have known precisely what he was losing and where, and more like a broadcast to tell people why he couldn't catch Massa.
Button proved that you can have non-DRS overtaking into Turn 16 as well as Turns 1 and 12.

Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus, 6th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Kimi was probably disappointed that the team had Matt Le Blanc as a guest of the Lotus team when he would have preferred Jennifer Aniston. When Kimi radioed in wanting to know if Daniel Ricciardo had to stop you wanted his engineer to radio back, "Leave me alone!"

Romain Grosjean, Lotus, 7th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Didn't crash but tried to.

Nico Hulkenberg, Force India, 8th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
Another mature drive from Hulkenberg who resisted late surges from both Williams drivers.

Pastor Maldonado, Williams, 9th Place in 2012 United States Grand Prix - Formula 1™
He was robust but not stupid and as a result he's now putting in consistent points finishes. How long is it since we've had an entire race with everyone finishing with the aerodynamic parts they started with? Perhaps it's something to do with that pure, bright Texan light - no misty smog like Korea or India.

Pirelli The Pirelli Stetsons were a great idea for the podium ceremony and surely something that F1 should expand on. We should have Pirelli national hats for most grands prix. In Canada Pirelli Mounties' hats, in Britain Pirelli bowler hats, in Belgium Pirelli berets, in Australia Pirelli bushranger hats with corks and in India Pirelli turbans.

Circuit of the Americas
There's a saying in Texas. "I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could." That could be said of the US GP. This is the first proper U.S. race since Watkins Glen and at last a worthy home for the event. It's a great credit to the organisers who hauled the race back from the brink when it looked like falling through. And because it's in America, there's every chance that it will become an ongoing success, not just a political vanity project for national or regional politicians, as it has been in other countries. The fact that it was a near sell-out should give hope to any waverers in New Jersey.

Michael Schumacher born 3 January 1969) is a German Formula 1™ racing driver. Up to the end of season 2012 he is driving for the Mercedes team. Michael Schumacher is a seven-time World Champion and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1™ drivers of all time. He holds many of the formula's driver records, including most championships, race victories, fastest laps, pole positions, points scored and most races won in a single season – 13 in 2004. In 2002 he became the only driver in Formula 1™ history to finish in the top three in every race of a season and then also broke the record for most consecutive podium finishes. According to the official Formula 1™ website he is "statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen".In 2009, a poll of 217 Formula 1™ drivers conducted by the British magazine Autosport named Michael Schumacher the second-greatest F1 driver of all time, behind Ayrton Senna.
After beginning with karting, Michael Schumacher won German drivers' championships in Formula König and Formula Three before joining Mercedes in the World Sportscar Championship. After one Mercedes-funded race for the Jordan Formula 1™ team Michael Schumacher signed as a driver for the Benetton Formula 1™ team in 1991. After winning consecutive championships with Benetton in 1994/5, Michael Schumacher Moved to Ferrari in 1996 and won another five consecutive drivers' titles with them from 2000 to 2004. Michael Schumacher retired from Formula 1™ driving in 2006 staying with Ferrari as an advisor. Michael Schumacher agreed to return for Ferrari part-way through 2009, as cover for the badly injured Felipe Massa, but was prevented by a neck injury. He later signed a three-year contract to drive for the new Mercedes GP team starting in 2010. Michael Schumacher career has not been without controversy, including being twice involved in collisions in the final race of a season that determined the outcome of the world championship, with Damon Hill in 1994 in Adelaide, and with Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 in Jerez. Off the track Michael Schumacher is an ambassador for UNESCO and a spokesman for driver safety. He has been involved in numerous humanitarian efforts throughout his life and donated tens of millions of dollars to charity. Michael and his younger brother Ralf Schumacher are the only brothers to win races in Formula 1™, and they were the first brothers to finish 1st and 2nd in the same race, in Montreal in 2001. The two brothers repeated this achievement in four more races (the 2001 French Grand Prix, the 2002 Brazilian Grand Prix, the 2003 Canadian Grand Prix and the 2004 Japanese Grand Prix).

Michael Schumacher Bids Farewell To Formula 1™
The curtain will fall on Michael Schumacher's career in Brazil on Sunday and he believes Interlagos is the perfect place for him to say farewell.

“Interlagos is the right place to round off my career because so much of the fascination of Formula 1™ is rooted there,” Michael Schumacher said.

“I always enjoy the enthusiasm of the fans, and it’s simply a great circuit which has seen many memorable events and always produces spectacular races as the unique layout guarantees plenty of action. For me, it’s also the circuit that brings back my memories of Ayrton.

“My departure from Formula 1™ will probably be less emotional for me this time than in 2006, when we were still fighting for the championship and everything was much more intense. This time round, I will be able to pay more attention to my farewell and hopefully savour it too.”

While he is unlikely to end his career with a race victory, Michael Schumacher wants to go out on a high and will be looking to secure a strong result at Interlagos.

“I have had fantastic years in Formula 1™ and a lot of support from fans around the world, and I wish to particularly thank them for that,” he added.

“Of course, I would be happiest if I could say goodbye with a strong race, and I am sure we will be doing everything we can to make it happen.”

Brawn was the mastermind behind Michael Schumacher s world championship successes and, while he has not delivered the result that were expected at Mercedes, the team principal is expecting an emotional weekend in Sao Paulo.

“With the last race of the season in Brazil also bringing Michael Schumacher's second and final retirement from Formula One, it will be an emotional weekend for everyone in the team,” Mercedes

Brazilian Grand Prix - Formula 1™ - Overview

type='html'>
The Brazilian Grand Prix (Portuguese: Grande Prêmio do Brasil) is a Formula One World Championship™ race which occurs at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, a district in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.
2012 Brazilian Formula 1™ Grand Prix Autódromo José Carlos Pace,
Brazilian Grand Prix History
A Brazilian Grand Prix was first held at Interlagos in São Paulo in 1972, although it was not part of the Formula One World Championship™ . The following year, however, the race was first included in the official calendar. In 1978 the Brazilian Grand Prix moved to Jacarepaguá in Rio de Janeiro, briefly returning to Interlagos for the next two seasons before becoming the sole host from 1981 onwards, due to safety concerns with the 5-mile Interlagos circuit and the slums of São Paulo being at odds with the glamorous image of Formula One. During the 1980s at Jacarepaguá most of the races were held in hot temperatures and were from a physical standpoint extremely brutal; most drivers who won the race on the very demanding circuit at Rio often finished in a state of exhaustion. 1989 was the last race at Jacarepaguá, this race was won by British driver Nigel Mansell in his Ferrari, the first Grand Prix won by a car with a semi-automatic gearbox. In 1990 the Grand Prix returned to a shortened Interlagos, where it has stayed since. The 2004 event marked the first time since the race's admission to the Formula One Championship calendar that it was not one of the first three rounds of the championship season. In 2005, for the first time, the Brazilian GP decided the Formula One World Championship™ , won by Fernando Alonso. On November 2, 2008, Felipe Massa became the latest home winner of the Brazilian GP; his victory in the last race of the 2008 season was still not enough to secure the championship as he lost to Lewis Hamilton by a single point.
The Interlagos circuit has created some of the most exciting and memorable races in recent Formula One history, and is regarded as one of the most challenging and exciting circuits on the F1 calendar. Along with Spa-Francorchamps, it is rare in that the circuit in its modern form is one of the few with a lengthy history in the sport not considered to have lost much of its mystique or challenge in its adaptation for the modern, much more safety-conscious era of 21st century Formula One.
Particularly memorable recent Brazilian Grands Prix include the 2003 race, which saw a maiden Grand Prix victory, highly unexpectedly, and amidst chaotic and unusual circumstances, for Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella. Heavy rain before and during the race produced problems with tyre selection which caught out many teams, which allowed the weak Minardi team to have a real chance for victory the only time ever, because they were the only team who prepared to the rainfall, but their drivers were also soon out. And treacherous track conditions caused multiple drivers to spin out of the race, including then-reigning World Champion Michael Schumacher, ending a remarkable run of race finishes dating back to the German Grand Prix 2001. Amidst this, a number of drivers, including McLaren's Kimi Räikkönen and David Coulthard, led the race, and, when a heavy accident involving Renault's Fernando Alonso blocked the circuit and brought out the red flag, confusion reigned. Fisichella led the race at the time, having just overtaken Räikkönen; however, it was the Finn who was declared the race winner under the count back rule, which stipulates that the race result in such circumstances is taken from the running order two laps prior to the race being stopped. This decision was overturned days later in the FIA Court of Appeal in Paris after new evidence came to light which proved that Fisichella had crossed the finish line in the lead for a second time before Alonso's accident, and therefore was the rightful winner. The 2001 Brazilian Grand Prix. was notable for marking the explosive arrival of Juan Pablo Montoya onto the Formula One scene. The Colombian driver stunningly muscled his way past Michael Schumacher early on and led easily until an incident in which Arrows' Jos Verstappen ran into the back of his Williams-BMW and ended his race. Montoya did eventually lay to rest the ghost of this event by winning the 2004 race in his final Grand Prix for Williams before moving to McLaren, holding off his future team-mate Kimi Räikkönen to take a hard-fought victory. The 2001 race is also notable for two brothers, Michael Schumacher and Ralf Schumacher, sharing a row on the starting grid for the first time.

2012 Brazilian Formula 1™ Grand Prix Autódromo José Carlos Pace,

At the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix
Fernando Alonso became the youngest ever Formula One World Champion at the 2005 Brazilian Grand Prix, his third place behind winner Juan Pablo Montoya and championship rival Kimi Räikkönen enough to clinch the title with two races remaining.
For 2006 the Brazilian Grand Prix, as in 2004, was moved to the prestigious position of hosting the final round of the season, in what was Michael Schumacher's first farewell to Formula One, before his return for the 2010 Formula One season. Starting from 10th position on the grid, Schumacher did an astonishing job on his last race. He fell to 19th position on the ninth lap due to a flat tyre caused by a minor collision with Giancarlo Fisichella when the former was trying to overturn the latter. After pitting for a new tyre he returned to the race, just in front of leader Massa, so almost being overlapped, passing several drivers to take the chequered flag in fourth place, after a dazzling passing manoeuvre on Kimi Räikkönen. His performance was not enough to give 'Schumi' his eighth trophy, as Fernando Alonso, who needed only one point to become Formula One World Champion again, finished in second place. Brazilian Felipe Massa took pole position and led the race from start to finish for the second victory of his career and celebrations from his Brazilian supporters.
In March 2008, the mayor of São Paulo announced that he had signed a new deal with Bernie Ecclestone to continue the holding of the Brazilian Grand Prix. This deal allows the Brazilian race to be on the calendar until 2015. With this, Interlagos is set for major improvements in its pit and paddock facilities.
In the final race of the 2008 season at the Brazilian Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton became the youngest Formula One World Championship™ , to that point in Formula One history. After adopting a conservative strategy without risks for most of the race to secure at least 5th place, and the title, a late-race rain shower caused unexpected trouble. First, Hamilton was pushed down to 5th place by German Toyota driver Timo Glock who didn't enter the pits for intermediates like most other front runners. With just 3 laps to go, Sebastian Vettel then also overtook the Briton on the track which meant he would end up with equal points to Massa, but with one victory less. While everybody was focussing on the battle between these two (Vettel managed to stay in front in the end), against all expectations both were able to overtake Glock, who had lost all grip with his dry weather tyres, in the very last corner before the finishing straight. This meant that, while the McLaren driver's title rival Felipe Massa won the race in his Ferrari, Hamilton ultimately grabbed the fifth place he needed to become champion. Renault's Fernando Alonso, the previous youngest champion, was second ahead of Massa's team-mate Kimi Räikkönen and Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel.
Five Brazilian drivers have won the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna and Felipe Massa each winning twice, and Jose Carlos Pace winning once. The most ever is by the Frenchman Alain Prost, who has won it 6 times (including 5 times at Jacarepaguá). Argentine driver Carlos Reutemann and Michael Schumacher have both won 4 times
